A Few Of Improvements In Carbide Inserts By Iscar Over The Last Decade
Iscar is announcing a new unique milling system with tangential, clamped, butterfly-shaped LNKX carbide inserts. The butterfly-shaped insert has noteworthy advantages compared to the current flat, square shapes. The new geometry has numerous cutting edges, positive rake face, diminished cutting forces resulting in elevated performance. The carbide inserts are screw-clamped on the periphery of varied milling cutter types, providing prime conditions also for heavy-duty applications with excellent surface quality, saving several other finishing operations. Cutters are offered for 90 degree shoulder milling and for facing with 45 degree lead angles.
Each carbide insert possesses 8 cutting edges, 4 for right-hand and four for left-hand cutting, enhancing the economy of use. The two, toward-center-slanted cutting edges provide on one side strong and accurate clamping of insert in the tool body, and on the other side, the positive axial rake angle. The usefulness of this positive axial rake design diminishes the cutting forces owing to softer cut and easier penetration into the metal, as well as changing force direction which is mandatory for use on modern machining centers with pallet systems less stable than on the traditional transfer lines.
In normal applications like in the auto industry, the depth-of-cut is less than thirty thousandths of an inch enabling the use of all eight cutting edges of the Tangmill carbide inserts. Furthermore, in the auto industry it is popular to use a pair of cutters, one for right- and one for left-handed operations, which means that all 8 cutting edges of the Tangmill inserts can be used.
New ISCAR UPGRADES for Fast Metal Removal
Newly born developments coming from the headquarters of Iscar, delivering the new Upgrade campaign, which guarantees that they are looking to the future. The new Upgrade campaign, planned to be distributed at the end of year 2008, will offer cutting edge tools for milling, turning, hole making and multifunction operations, complementing the FMR (Fast Metal Removal) tool families with one aim in mind - to increase productivity on the shop floor and to expand profits.
Iscar's highlights for this year, with no doubt, are the new coatings, new substrate compositions, new cutting edge geometries, new sizes, new tangential clamping mechanisms and new coolant nozzle functions. Iscar's future trends incorporate new carbide insert grades for effective and time-saving machining, more cutting edges for each insert and upper-level tangential clamping mechanisms which can significantly decrease the cutting forces. The launching of the AL-TEC, PVD coating mainly for nodular cast iron, a-TECH, CVD coating essentially for grey cast iron and the DO-TECH, dual CVD PVD coating for upgraded strength will remodel the way manufacturers machines cast iron. Furthermore, Iscar manufacturing mini inserts is a different trend within the Upgrade movement, referring to minimizing the sizes of the Tangmill carbide inserts into Minitang, in order to aid fine pitch configuration which will quicken feed rates. In addition, the minimal size of the carbide inserts and their tangential position in the pockets enable a much greater core diameter, in terms of tool design, when compared to regular radially positioned inserts.
Iscar Adds Their Most Recent Creations To A Extended Line Of Successful Hole Making SolutionsIscar recently released several different drilling innovations to meet their customers needs. These new products are Sumocham Drill, DR-DH and Deep Drills. Drawing off of their experience Iscar has come up with new and innovative ways to increase productivity for the end user.
Iscar Recently Made Public Several Original Lines To Increase Their Family Of Milling ToolsIscar recently released a new family of High Speed Milling adjustable endmills and facemills that will improve milling of aluminum, non-metallics, cast iron and hardened steel. This should prove especially useful in the automotive and aerospace industries.
Iscar Releases A Revolutionary Line Of Slitting Cutters Using Tang-Grip Technology And The Strength Of Sumo Tec GradesIscar now offers a family of high-performance slitting tools that combine the convenience and security of Tang-Grip clamping with the added durability of the new Sumo Tec insert grades. The concept, already proven successful in Tang-Grip parting tools, has now been extended to slitting cutters.
New Cutters And Carbide Insert Shapes From Iscar To Better Maximize The Machining MethodIscar is introducing Penta 34 carbide inserts with a new PB chipformer. The PB chipformer features a single cavity with a positive rake, neutral shoulder angle, and a honed edge. It is actually a C-type chipformer with a different frontal edge.
Many Progressions Have Broadened Iscar's Families Of Indexable Endmills For Increased ProductivityHelido-Upfeed 04 Two years ago Iscar introduced the extremely efficient H600 indexable endmill line, based on conceptually new Helido-Upfeed double sided inserts with 6 cutting edges. The first insert launched was the H600 WXCU 0806..., which was designed for milling cutters in the diameter range of 50 to 125 mm.
